resilience and lubrication to joints (cartilage)
Formation of new blood vessels; fibroblast migration and proliferation (lay down collagen)
Vessels derive from endothelial cell precursors (angioblasts) or by budding from pre–existing vessels
They degrade ECM proteins to strengthen repair.
Inflammation ; Proliferation; Maturation
Simplest form of healing. Occurs when there are opposed or sutured tissue edges.
Form of healing that occurs when the defect is larger and tissue edges do not appose each other.

Exuberant proliferation of fibroblasts
Proliferation of fibroblasts at site of injury. Growth factors and cytokines encourage fibroblasts to lay down collagen. Deposition of ECM (collagen). It occurs within the granulation tissue framework.
