Dr Faisal Ahmed graduated from SMC in 1994-95 and after doing his house job,proceeded to the British isles to undertake post graduate qualifications and training in the field of Cardiology.He had the good fortune of passing all his post graduate exams in the very first attempt,which enabled him to undertake specialized training in the field of Interventional Cardiology,as prescribed by the Royal Colleges,at the earliest.Having finished training he served as locum Consultant Cardiologist in a number of Regional and Teaching hospitals before returning to Pakistan in 2003.Since his return he has been working as a Consultant Cardiologist in Liaquat National Hospital and the Tabba Heart Institute,with a stint as the Medical Director at the Baqai Institute of Cardiovascular Diseases.For the past 7 years he has been working as the Head of the Department of Cardiology at the Liaquat National Hospital and Medical College,and for the last 11 years as a Consultant Cardiologist at the Tabba Heart Institute.Under his leadership the Cardiology department at the LNH has posted success academically,and otherwise,like never before in its more than 35 year history. He is the author of a number of papers published in renowned Medical Journals.He is an accredited supervisor for Cardiology training for the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Pakistan and also an examiner for the CPSP conducted exams in Cardiology.In addition he is a member of the Pakistan Cardiac Society and the Pakistan Society for Interventional Cardiology. He is an expert at diagnostic angiography,coronary angioplasty and permanent pacemaker implantations.he is also renowned as an empathetic and conscientious clinical doctor.
